Wardrobe Wednesday: Palm Prints
It’s been a dreary winter week in Philadelphia, and we’re dreaming of spring. These palm print skinny jeans by Michael Kors would be a bold addition to any spring wardrobe. They reminded us of this David and Dash sample in our collection. This textile is called Jamaica and was originally produced for South Beach, Miami hotels in the late 1960s.
Big news! We are very, very excited to be featured in the Tumblr Spotlight in the Design category!
Our logo textile is a design called Agate by David and Dash. David and Dash specialized in hotel textiles and wallpapers for South Beach, Miami during the 1960s.
We are prepping for an installation at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania today. Just wanted to share a selection of David and Dash samples that we are mounting!
You can follow The Design Center on Instagram now, too!
It’s time for Wardrobe Wednesday!
Inspired by this whimsical, vegetable print from David and Dash, we decided to highlight the asparagus within the print & pair it with an asparagus printed frock from Vested Gentress.
About the company: ”Vested Gentress was established in 1961 and was based in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Their factory was located in Trappe, Pennsylvania, about twelve miles from Valley Forge. The company was known for whimsical screenprinted fabrics. These fabrics were made into dresses, slacks, and skirts. They also had a line of golf wear. The company closed in the late 1980s.” (Written by Lizzie Bramlett, fuzzylizzie.com)

Two of our purple prints were featured on the @birdsofohio blog!
The top right dotted print is from the 1901 line by Parisian company Bourdon, Legendre, and Co. The bottom left is Papillio, a 1960s butterfly print from Miami-based David and Dash.
It’s a big day for us at TDC! One of our favorite David and Dash samples, Eldon, was featured on Pattern Cure.
Thanks Lauren!
This Karen Walker Fall 2012 dress (via WWD) reminds me of this 1960s David and Dash sample from Miami.
A big thanks to Joe and Evan at Temple University Libraries! They helped me track down a Good Housekeeping article from 1967 that featured David and Dash textiles. Here’s their printed textile, Girard, used in a master bedroom. Too cool!
